Authentication: Authentication provides assurance that a party in data communication is who or what they claim to be.
Authorisation: Authorisation is a security service that ensures that a party may only perform the actions that they're allowed to perform.
Anti-virus software: Software that is used to protect a computer against viruses or other malware threats. The software needs to be regularly updated.
Authentication: Authentication is the process of verifying an identity claimed by or for a system entity. Also, any security measure designed to establish the validity of a transmission, message, or originator, or a means of verifying and individual's eligibility to receive specific categories of information.
Confidentiality: Confidentiality is the protection of data from disclosure to unauthorized parties
Encryption: Encryption is the process of translating information to make it unreadable without access to a secret code or key. Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security.
Firewall: Firewall is hardware and/or software which functions in a networked environment (such as an office) to prevent some communications forbidden by the security policy.
GPRS: GPRS is the system whereby data can be transferred over the GSM voice infrastructure.
GSM: GSM is Global System for Mobile communications. It is the most common digital mobile system. GSM can be used for both voice and data applications.
Malware: Malware is malicious software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system, without the owner's consent. Malware is commonly taken to include computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, rootkits, spyware and adware.
PDA: Personal digital assistant.: A handheld computer.
Phishing: The practice of tricking a user into giving away personal information such as bank account details by pretending to be a legitimate business or organisation
Server: A server is a computer or device on a network that manages network resources. For example, a file server is a computer and storage device dedicated to storing files, a web server for access to web content e.t.c.
Spam: Unsolicited message that the recipient typically does not want to receive. The spam can be either benign or a form of malware
Spyware: A program that monitors your Internet activity and transmits that information to someone else
Trojan Horse: A program that appears to be useful but actually causes damage in some form.The goal of a Trojan Horse is to trick users by hiding the underlying activity.
WAP: Wireless application protocol. An open international standard for applications that use wireless communication. Its principal application is to enable access to the Internet from a mobile phone or PDA.
